PCC celebrates adjunct faculty

Pima Community College will honor their adjunct faculty that have been with PCC for 10, 20 and 30 years.

On Friday, Dec. 1, adjunct faculty and six guests of their choice will be able to go to the Pima Air and Space Museum for a complimentary tour, activities and dinner, beginning at 4 p.m. For more information call 206-4888.

 

Student magazine earns No. 1 nationwide for third straight year

Sandscript Art and Literature magazine has earned its third straight first place spot in the Community College Humanities Association’s Literacy Magazine Competition.

Several students also won their own personal awards:

Poems – Elizabeth Brown earned third place for her poem “Homeless Man” and Tom Cracovaner got honorable mention for his poem “Two Worms.”

Short Stories – First place was awarded to Jordan Lee Wilson for the short story “Drinking Coca-Cola in Afghanistan.” Honorable mention was given to Lilli Watson for her piece “Orange Soda.”

Creative nonfiction – Ken Roseburg won third place for his piece titled “Laugh When You Can, Cry When You Musy.”

Artwork – Chelsea Rose Laprevote got third place for her art titled “Junk City.”

 

PCC hosts free event exploring diversity in the workplace

The college will hold a workshop for the community to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The workshop will hold discussions with communities leaders to explore ways to understand your constiencies and market.

Edgar Martinez Senior exectuive, business development Tucson Metro Chamber, Lea Márquez-Peterson, president and CEO of Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Raul Aguirre, president and CEO of REA Media Group, will all speak at the event.
