STOMPING GROUNDS : Floor Polish studio gives fitness new meaning

By ASHLEY MUÑOZ

Downtown Tucson is home to many great up-and-coming places. And no, I’m not talking about the million new ice cream shops that just happened to appear. I’m talking about the Floor Polish Dance Studio.

I’m always on the hunt for places around town, and I was lucky enough to stumble upon Floor Polish. The studio is extremely welcoming to all and has an unbeatable atmosphere. Positivity radiates off every inch of the studio.

I have two left feet, but I do love to let loose and have a great time. And if that includes working out while dancing, then hell yeah I dance.

Listen, you don’t have to be a dancer to go to Floor Polish. It offers classes for everyone. That’s what I love about it.

If you’re like me and love the film “Chicago” and do nothing but sing “Cell Block Tango,” then you need to check out the Broadway Jazz class on Thursdays with Christine. There is literally nothing like it, in the best way possible.

Floor Polish also offers pilates and a yoga-infused class called “PiYo.” Other options: burlesque fitness, tai chi, belly dance, salsa, hip hop, yoga and much more.

The studio is in an older building made entirely of brick, but the inside is completely remodeled. It has a massive mirror stretching along an entire wall and wooden floors to make dancing and yoga simple.

Class prices range from $6-$10.

The studio is hidden away on Fourth Avenue next to Ermanos Patio and Public Brewhouse.
