Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus hosts a Career Café on the second Wednesday of selected months, with each featuring a different “special brew” open to all PCC students.
The semester’s final event will be April 13 from noon-2 p.m. in the Desert Vista cafeteria. Its special brew will focus on being “overqualified versus underqualified.”
Free coffee, relaxing music and tables that specialize in other topics will also be available. The first 25 students who attend will receive complimentary coffee mugs that boast the café’s slogan, “Career exploration takes brains, heart and courage.”
Created three years ago, the Career Café focuses on helping students begin the process of searching for a job.
Coordinators Rene Forsyth and Autumn Palmer bring in faculty and staff volunteers who advise students on how to create cover letters, amp up their resumes and be confident during interviews.
March’s “special brew” focused on persistence after rejection from a job application.
