The Pima Community College men’s golf team finished in second place when it hosted the PCC Invitational at Silverbell Golf Course on Feb. 28-29.
South Mountain Community College from Phoenix took first place.
The Aztecs finished the tournament with a two-day score of 563, earning a score of 281 in the first round and 282 in the second round.
Sophomore David Rauer was Pima’s top finisher and earned medalist honors after he tied for second place.
He finished with a score of 138, shooting a two-under par 68 in the first round and an even-par 70 in the second.
Sophomore Wilfred Tewawina finished at 143, with a one-over par 71 in the first round and a two-over par 72 in the second round.
Freshman Jonah Daniels finished with a score of 144.
He shot a two-under par 68 in the second round, an eight-stroke improvement from his first round score of 76.
Sophomore Will Dennis also finished at 144, shooting a two-over par 72 in both rounds.
Sophomore Frankie Wu finished at 145 after struggling in the second round.
The Aztecs will play their fourth tournament of the season on March 14-15 in the Mesa Community College Invitational at the Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa.
Teams will tee off at 7 a.m. on Monday and at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Pima Community College women’s golf team was scheduled to play in the Scottsdale Community College Invitational on March 7-8.
The tournament took place after Aztec Press went to the printer.
