MEN’S GOLF: Pima takes second place


The Pima Community College men’s golf team took second place at the Mesa Community College Invitational on March 14-15, finishing just one stroke behind the first-place team.

The Aztecs finished 18 strokes under par, with a score of 558 (284-274). South Mountain Community College scored 557 (278-274).

PCC sophomore Frankie Wu was the invitational’s top scorer, shooting a 10-under par 134. He shot a one-under par 71 for the first round and a nine-under par 63 in the second round.

Sophomore David Rauer finished in third place with a six-under par 138. He shot a two-under par 70 in the first round and a four-under par 68 in the second round.

Rauer won the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Invitational on Feb. 9.

Sophomore Will Dennis finished in fourth place with a five-under par 139. He shot a three-under par 69 in the first round and a four-under par 68 in the second.

Freshman Jonah Daniels shot 147 (74-73) and tied for 18th in the standings.

The Aztecs will compete in the Paradise Valley Community College Invitational on March 28-29 at the Gainey Ranch Golf Course in Scottsdale.

Teams will tee off at 12:30 p.m. for both rounds.
