Child prodigy Ethan Bortnick will perform at Pima Community College’s Proscenium Theatre on April 5 at 7 p.m. with special guest Damian McGinty from the television show “Glee.”
Admission for the show starts at $39.
The 12-year-old pianist, singer, composer and entertainer has donated more than $30 million to numerous charitable organizations through his “Power of Music” show. His current tour benefits the Public Broadcasting Service television network.
“I will be performing many of the songs from the new PBS special, ‘The Power of Music,’” Bortnick said via email. “I will also be doing things that I have never done before. I will be composing songs from audience stories and messages.”
Bortnick’s first performance came at a young age at a local mall where his piano teacher scheduled a show.
“Someone videotaped me and put it on YouTube,” Bortnick said. “Then Jay Leno’s producer’s called.”
He has since shared the stage with performers such as Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Katy Perry and Tony Bennett.
Bortnick said his fans are very special to him.
“I love meeting my fans,” he said. “But the best part is when I hear that they had a nice time.”
PCC’s Proscenium Theatre is located in the Center for the Arts complex on West Campus.
