Program funds study-abroad in Germany

By LAURA BLANDBURG

Pima Community College students are invited to apply for a study-abroad opportunity that allows community college students to spend the summer in Germany.

Students must be between the ages of 18 and 27, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The application deadline is Dec. 1.

The Work Immersion Study Program is a funded, three-month immersion program.

The first month consists of a German language course in Radolfzell, Germany.

Students then work at a two-month internship. The internships, in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, are customized to each participant’s career field.

The WISP scholarship includes roundtrip airfare, housing, a monthly stipend and health insurance.

The program is open to community college students pursuing an associate degree. Applicants must have completed one year of study toward a degree and one semester of German before the start of the program in June 2012.
