The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is teaming with Animal Cruelty Taskforce for this year’s Action for Animals fundraising campaign.

ACT’s mission is to increase awareness of animal cruelty through complaint investigation, offender rehabilitation and community outreach.

Several restaurants are participating by having percentage nights, donating a portion of their profits.

“It’s a great way for people to help out animals,” said Sarah Gromley, public relations coordinator for HSSAZ. “It will help to cover veterinary care for animals that have been neglected.”

The campaign’s goal is to raise at least $20,000 by year’s end, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous donor.

Upcoming Action for Animals percentage nights include:

May 2-7: Create Cafe, 4660 E. Camp Lowell Road, 298-3421 (5% of proceeds).

May 12: California Pizza Kitchen, 4500 N. Oracle Road, 407-5004 (20%).

May 17: La Cocina, 201 N. Court Ave., 622-0351 (20%).

June 1: Renee’s Organic Oven (formally Eclectic Pizza), 7065 E. Tanque Verde Road, 886-0484 (10%).
