Transfer Fairs scheduled March 8, 9

Pima Community College will host Transfer Fairs for students seeking to attend four-year colleges.

The fairs will be held:

  • March 8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., East Campus student mall.
  • March 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Desert Vista Campus patio area.

Students will receive up-to-date information on transfers, admissions requirements, majors and more.

Representatives from 18 colleges are expected, including Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona and Western New Mexico University.

Epilepsy Walk set for March 19

Know someone with epilepsy or want to help the cause?

On Saturday, March 19, the 10th annual Tucson Epilepsy Walk will be held at the University of Arizona Mall, on the east side of Old Main.

Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. The Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona sponsors the event.

Guitar concert benefits scholarship fund

Guitarist Gabriel Ayala will perform in concert March 21 in the Proscenium Theatre at Pima Community College’s West Campus Center for the Arts. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, sold at the CFA box office, cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Proceeds benefit the Gabriel Ayala Scholarship, sponsored by the Native American Student Association.

March 22 talk explores ‘Creating’

Pima Community College art instructor Claire Campbell Park will discuss “Creating with Reverence” on March 22 at 6 p.m. in the District Office community board room, 4905 E. Broadway Blvd.

Her free talk is part of the 2011 Speakers’ Series, sponsored by the provost’s office and the Faculty Senate.

File for financial aid by April 4

Students applying for financial aid must file their application and supporting documentation by the April 4 priority deadline to receive the maximum aid available.

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form at from home or at any Pima Community College Student Services Center.

After filling out your FAFSA, log on to MyPima and check the Financial Aid tab to see if you are missing any documentation.

Pima students earn academic honors

Phi Theta Kappa honor society has named 12 Pima Community College students to its 2011 All-Arizona Academic teams.

The PCC students are Frank Ambrose, Imad Hatoum, Jessica Perkins, John Santoro, Mary Carroll, Nicole Jackson, Teresa Pfleiderer, Astride Tchoffo, Jacquelyne Echave, David Kaiser, Lisa Ryan and Zoe Williams. 

They join community college students from around the state selected each year for academic achievement, leadership and service to the community.
