Students to stage musical, opera scenes Nov. 19-20

The Pima Community College performing arts department will present fully costumed and staged scenes from popular operas and musicals on Nov. 19-20.

Performances will be in the West Campus Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre. Show times are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Dean Schoff will direct the musical styling, while Anna Schoff will handle stage direction.

Featured opera ensembles, scenes and solos will come from “Manon,” “L ‘Elisir d’Amore,” “The Rake’s Progress,” “Macbeth” and “The Tales of Hoffmann.” Musicals will be “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Company,” “Working” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

The performances will be a culmination of classroom studies in opera, musical, voice, acting and stagecraft.
